My Skin Balm is hand-made from Shea butter, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, hempseed oil & beeswax. Each of these ingredients has it own natural benefits and use as described below.
Shea butter Butter obtained from the nut of the Mangifolia tree (the karite tree) in Central and West Africa. It is extremely therapeutic; helping to heal cracked, aged and damaged skin. Shea Butter is a good emollient for moisturizers and helps to penetrate the skin. Shea Butter has a high amount of Vitamin A and Vitamin E, as well as phytosterols, triterpenes, fatty esters and phenolic acids. Vitamins A and E are important in helping to repair skin damage; phytosterols, and triterpenes aid in skin allergies; phenolic acids are good for cellular protection. Shea Butter is widely used to protect skin from the sun’s UV rays, as well as soften and heal cracked and aged skin.
Grapeseed Oil Due to high linoleic acid content, Grapeseed Oil has good moisturizing and nourishing properties. The light green oil contains essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, protein and GLA. Grapeseed Oil leaves your skin soft and smooth without feeling greasy making it one of the most commonly used oils in massage products.
Hempseed Oil Hemp Seed oil is one of the world's richest sources of polyunsaturated fats, including Omegas 3 and 6. An excellent natural emollient and moisturizer. Reputed to slow down the effects of skin ageing. It can also soothe and restore dry and damaged skin, and increases the skin's natural capacity to retain moisture. Imparts gloss and manageability to hair, and relief to scalp conditions.
Coconut Oil Fractionated Coconut Oil is an odorless, non-greasy, non-staining oil that helps carry therapeutic oils under the skin.
Beeswax A natural emulsifier as well as one of the oldest and purest waxes. For hundreds of years, natural beeswax has been used in creams, candles, lipsticks and other cosmetics.
